Forty 3rd: Teutonic Tuesday with a German pickup

Welcome again to Forty 3rd which tackles models within the 1/43 scale and smaller. So American cars have the Chevy El Camino and Ford Ranchero where the rear half of the car was replaced with a cargo bed. Of course the Germans have their own version.

It may not be as big or roomy in terms of passenger and cargo bed compare to its American counterpart but you can’t help but admire the ingenuity that goes into creating a pickup out of a small car with rear engine.

So what or how should this be called? A VW Beetle Utility vehicle? VW Beetulity?

Underneath the chassis is the name VW Kafer Buetler-Pritsche by Schuco.

So how does that translate? Käfer means bug or beetle. Buetler-Pritsche is a bit difficult as Buetler is an occupational name for a copper or barrel maker while Pritsche means plank bed or possibly pickup as well.

As I have previously mentioned on some of my 1/43 blog, most of the 1/43 made in Europe and Japan are slowly switching to resin and this is one of them. Beautifully made and highly detail but non-rolling wheels.

But if you want those unique or sometimes weird looking, this model fits the bill and I would recommend it.
