Here is probably something only a few people are aware of. Or maybe a lot are aware of it but seldom mentioned about it. So let me present the Tomica Limited Vintage Neo in 1/43.
First let’s take a look at the packaging. Unlike most 1/43 these days which are pack in plexiglass display case, Tomica took a different turn using old school cardboard box.
Before anything else, what I noticed is Tomica did not put any english name on the packaging unlike their 1/64. So I have to do a research in Amiami website to come up with the name which they call,
Tomica Limited Vintage Neo 43 LV-N43-02c Nissan Elgrand Otsuka Private Taxi
So without any knowledge in Japanese characters I am going to assume this is like the Medical Transportation we have here in the States.
Ok back to the unboxing.
So inside the box, it shows a picture of the actual vehicle and how the model closely matches it.
Here you will see that there is no need to use a screw driver to unpack the model. Just removed the clear plastic protector on the top and you’re done.
Inside is a small catalog/insert preview of some of their products and sticker foil that you can peel and stick it to the side mirror (shown below). Also there are a couple of small lights that are install on the roof. Since there are no holes on the roof, you may have to glue it.
Let’s look at some more pictures of this model.
As most of us know, the TLV series are great for their detail in 1/64 but looking at this 1/43, the workmanship is superb even the characters and words are clear and precise in their alignment. One thing I would really appreciate having on this type of model is opening doors so you can really appreciate the detail of the interior as it is difficult to photograph the inside.
There are some delicate individual parts but overall I find it easy to hold the model. Lastly I forgot to photograph but there is some detail underneath the chassis as well. I would rate it 5 out of 5 for quality control, 4.5 out of 5 for play value as there are no openings, 5 out of 5 for detail and 5 out of 5 for packaging due to ease of removal and still providing protection.
