For my 135th post we will be looking at the last Car Culture.
These are 2 of the 5 car set from the Car Culture “Cars & Donuts” series from Hot Wheels which were released not too long ago.
Seems like they were overshadowed by the recently released “Japan Historics 2" as people are scrambling to find them for which I am one of them.
But wait, aren’t those Car Culture as well?
True but let me elaborate on what I meant by last Car Culture. When Hot Wheels released the Japan Historics 2 they decided to do something different from past Car Culture. The $3.49 price is no more as they increase the price way beyond the pop culture up to the retro entertainment price point. The cars now have full graphics so no more blank spots where the headlights and taillights should be. Larger cards compared to the previous Car Culture which used to be the size of mainline Hot Wheels. So there you have it. The traditional Car Culture that we’re used to, starting with Japan Historics has seen it’s last thru the “Cars & Donuts”.
Here is the 5/5 Subaru Impreza WRX aka bugeye and the 3/5 Alfa Romero Giula Sprint. I only got these as I wasn’t interested in the other models.
Although a great model, this Alfa Romeo does not equal to the previously released Forza series as this has missing graphics on the front and back which according to Mattel should be the last time you will see this under the Car Culture thus the price increase.
The Subaru is clearly the winner with graphics on the back and separate headlights.
So here I will say goodbye to last Car Culture and welcome the next generation which I will hopefully be posting soon.
