Remember Saturday morning kids show featuring superheroes and their mission to save the world? On my 161st post we will look at some DC superheroes from Hot Wheels pop culture featuring Superman and members of the Justice league.

Here are 2 of the 5 car set as I rarely collect the whole set as I am more into the model rather than a completist. This DC set features the art of Alex Ross who by age 13 was drawing and scripting comic books.

Here is 1/5 featuring the VW T1 panel with the Justice League. Considered probably the favorite among collectors, I’ve been trying to collect the VW panel but it’s been difficult to find it in stores. Lately I’ve been able to locate them and I stumble upon this set while in Walmart and seems like they have just loaded the pegs not too long ago.

Here is my evaluation of the VW. It has nice art on the sides and instead of just a reprint of the same art on the other side Hot Wheels decides to put on a different set of art. The Panel wheels are lowered as has been since Hot Wheels introduced this model. Comes with metal body and chassis, have spoke wheels and rubber tires. I love that it even includes white walls on the tires.

Here is the 2/5 featuring the Haulin’ Gas with Superman. I have a what you might call a remorse buying syndrome on this model since it was introduced as I kind of like the vintage look but would rather see it in Gasoline livery and no enlarge wheels at the rear. So far Hot Wheels have been releasing this in pop culture livery only and I’m hoping to see it in Gas livery soon. So why did I get this? I felt that this livery with Superman is nice and I felt it’s about time I put at least one in my collection.

Here is my evaluation of the Haulin’ Gas. It also has nice art on the sides and instead of just a reprint of the same art on the other side Hot Wheels decides to put on a different set of art. Comes with metal body and chassis, have spoke wheels and rubber tires.

So who would enjoy these set? Not everyone as I heard a lot of Hot Wheels collectors don’t care for pop culture but if that’s the case why would Hot Wheels keep making them? My guess is Hot Wheels would like to expand their clientele by including comic book collectors, kids that like Super heroes who will then asked their parents if they can have them as gifts for whatever occasion there is available and also collectors who collect specific models who doesn’t mind the art work as long as they have a variety of that specific die cast.

Lastly if not for the die cast then look at the art card. There is no doubt that this person got talent as the drawing looks life like.
