I’ve had these tiny cars for around 25 yrs, junk shop/flea market finds. Would have paid no more than a dollar or two each for them. All three are from different countries, England, Australia (ya!) and New Zealand. Not sure how rare or common they are but I got them as they were a bit different and most of my stuff is VW with a sprinkling of Porsche(same thing I know!).
Each one is a different wheelbase but they look to be around HO scale, maybe a touch bigger. Each car has tread ‘bumps’ around the circumference of the tiny tyres. All three can park on a credit card, so that should give you an indication of the size. There’s no dates on them so based on the cars in question can’t be older than 1954/5 in the beetles case at least but are probably from the early 60’s at a guess. If anyone knows about this era of die-casts I’d be happy to learn more about them.
Beetle Bonnet Badge, for scale, if your familiar with bugs.
They have some nice crisp details considering the size and age of them. The little blue aussie one is the least detailed but still has some fine body/door gap lines, not sure if it’ll show up but it has a tiny VW badge that’s readable!
Here they are on a credit card!
Manufacturer listed as STREAMLUX, from Australia
Here’s the English one, note the ‘No-8’ at the rear bumper end of the base.
And this is the New Zealand made one, the ‘FUN HO’ in the casting leads me to think it’s HO scale, but it seems just a touch to big I think.
(Sorry for the iPhone pics if they are burning anyone’s eyes! It's the best I got)
