Wed Wednesday?

Ferrari GTO by SIKU.

I found a non-VW in my cabinet so thought I’d share it. Not sure where it came from or how old it is. It’s made by SIKU of West Germany. The details are nice for its size and I like that the base casting has the transaxle protruding at the rear as in the full size vehicle. I think the scale is 1/60 but correct me if I’m wrong. It’s showing some minor chips but over all it looks pretty good and the windows are fairly good with a couple of minor marks. Interior is not very well detailed and would not be comfortable on long road trips but it is a fast car so you won’t spend too long inside anyway.

The GTO was built to complete in the infamous group ‘B’ rally series and although around 272 GTO’s were built, the series was banned by the FIA following a fatal crash in 1986. All the cars were sold as road cars and never raced, imagine seeing these at full throttle, drifting around a corner on a gravel track! Doesn’t seem right somehow but it would have been pretty awesome to witness. Some photos for your eyes.

Some specs like top speed, number of cylinders, engine displacement etc are displayed on the base which is a nice touch.
