Wagen Wednesday

Oops! Not meant go here! Shared by mistake. Sorry, if you’ve seen this just ignore. I stuffed up and some how reposted it by mistake.

Ok ok, it’s a van I know but as I have no wagons I present this for a substitute. This would be one of the last models I collected as its from 1992, about when I stopped collecting as such. It’s a Corgi Comic classics featuring Captin Condor, a feature comic in a weekly publication, from WIKI;

Lion was first published on 23 February 1952, and was a weekly boys’ adventure comic designed to compete with Eagle, the popular weekly comic that had introduced Dan Dare. Lion‍ ‘s first issue contained a mix of text stories and comic strips; its flagship story was Captain Condor – Space Ship Pilot, a science fiction adventure in the Dan Dare mould. The premiere issue also contained the first adventure of Robot Archie (called The Jungle Robot in early adventures) who would go on to become one of the title’s most popular characters. The most popular story was Paddy Payne written by Val Holding and drawn by Joe Colquhoun. Reg “Skipper” Clarke ran the letters feature.”

The model features suspension but has no opening parts, the detail is very nice including tiny little chrome windscreen wipers. There’s VW logos on the hubcaps as well as nice painted details all around the van. The scale is not noted but it matches up closely to the Tomica van I posted a few weeks back which is 1:43. The last photo shows this very van used on the cover of a massively un-popular band from the 90’s of which I knew some members. This was their demo CD that is awesome when played with the volume at minus 11. They borrowed this van for the album cover shoot and I was extremely happy to get it back undamaged. Anyway it’s number 1932 of 5000 made which I only just rediscovered after removing the flock lined insert and found the certification ticket thing. Here you go.
