Hidden Details of the MBX Lotus Exige

I’ve found some nice little details on MBX Lotus Exige that are impossible too see without dismantling the car! To save you the trouble of destroying one I have taken some shots to share here on LaLD. First off I picked this cast as a wheel swap donor as the rear wing was bent out of the box, this was in a 5 pack MBX Exotics. After pulling it apart I was able to straighten the wing so it’s rolling on some HW hoops at the moment.

Another discovery is that some casts are RHD. After a life time of LHD vehicles I was surprised to see the steering wheel on the RIGHT side of the car! The HW RX-7 is another.

This is how the wing looked from the packet.

Interesting feature here is the way the side vents are molded on springy things, to fit or remove the interior the vents need to be squeezed in.

Ok, here’s the bits that aren’t visible normally. First off the seats, you can see them through the open windows on the cast but it’s hard to see the details that have been put into this piece.

If you look at the area at the front(left) you will notice a tang that clips through the slot. This is to hold the upper dash in place as its a one piece molding that has a built in hinge.

This shows the upper dash just as the clip is released.

Here we go! Check out the gauges on the passenger side of the dash! It’s completely impossible to see these normally.

The rear view mirror is molded into the window part. The rear window is completely blanked off in the model so you don’t even notice it normally.
