A Horrible Discovery

Well the cast itself is fine it’s just been put together using authentic Land Rover quality control measures. I picked this up purely as I don’t see many casts of this vehicle around. It will become another custom in the future but not for a while yet. It’s made by Motor Max(?) and is of a 2004 Land Rover Discovery. The scale isn’t marked but it looks to small for 1:64.

At first glance it looks ok. Details and proportions look good. Even the wheels, although I don’t like them, look ok for the car if a little large in rim dia.

The first issue I noticed was the dash was bent out of shape. It’s ok on the passenger side but the drivers side looks like it’s had a frontal collision with the dash pushed back towards the front seat.

If you look close you can make out the misaligned dash.

This side has a wheel issue with the chrome not fully applied to the entire rear rim. of course this side was facing the card so couldn’t be seen until DLM’d.

Poorly applied paint on the spare which at least measures the same dia as the road wheels. Yes I measured it, with digital vernier calipers no less! It’s one of my ‘things’ when it comes to casts, particularly off road cars with highly visible spare tyres. They must be the same dia if not one of the actual wheels used on the cast.

Thanks for looking.
