[Custom] '67 Austin Mini Van

Just a quick post. Spridget asked for more of the Mini Van in my Custom Garage Expansion post. So I took some quick shots when I had a moment tonight.

So it started as the wildly painted Mini Van that most will know of. It’s tampos hide a very well done cast from HW and I had to strip one and paint it so I could see it fully. I like what I see.

I painted the base in a matte black to get rid of the yellow as it didn’t suit what I wanted to achieve with this custom. I went for a mild street custom look, the kind of thing you’d see some car loving long haired hippy driving around in back in the day. Usually with a cool sounding exhuaust system that the ‘respectables’ hated the sound of and optional Pink Floyd, Tubular Bells, etc blasting out of one of four small speakers set in some home made speaker box of dubious construction and barely fixed to the car if at all. But I digress, this is a scale model tribute to those times.

I’ve used the removable pin method of wheel attachment so there’s a couple of different wheels used in the photos. These are Real Riders for those who don’t know and the other set are from a Welly and remind me a little of the 8 spoke EMPI mags popular back in the day. More photos below, not much text.
