Well kind of, one is a Type 14A
I thought I’d share these little gems for this weeks TT. After Fintail posted his Fiat tipo I remembed that these were sitting in my display cabnet. I would have had them for around 25yrs now so they have held up well, being German made models of German cars I expect no less. I don’t think they have been out of their tiny acrylic cases very much at all. Please excuse the dust, although at this scale it’s probably more like gravel than dust!
The blue Beetle is a 1951 export model. Not much to say about it really, if you don’t know about Beetles by now you haven’t lived long enough! The grey one is a Hebmuller Cabriolet (Type 14A) and is a rare car in full scale with only 696 examples produced by the coach builders Hebmüller and Sohn. Around 100 are known to exist world wide today according to the Wiki page. I was lucky enough to see one at a VW show many years ago here in Australia, I believe it was the only one in the country at the time. More Heb info in the linked wiki page.

These are pretty well detailed models for the scale of 1:87. No idea how much they were but I remember them being pretty costly.
In some shots it’s possible to see the VW logo on the hubcaps! Incredible!
The rag top looks ‘raggy’. The headlights are a separate clear piece as well. Also if you look closely the tread pattern is present on the tires. Amazing details, not sure I ever noticed the tread until now.
I remember reading about the Heb years ago and its early prototypes used an actual bonnet as an engine cover, I think the production version was a slightly different pressing though.
Obviously these aren’t diecast but are made from plastic, they do have metal axles though...

Seem to have lost the plastic strip to hold the Heb in place.
The cards in the cases have tiny little number plates, I’m not going to be cutting them out and sticking them on though.
