My entry for today’s theme comes from Matchbox in the form of a beautiful 1961 E Type Jaguar. The scale is 1:64 and is well made and finished. I’ve only had it for 6 days now as it was part of an awesome iHWEP with MustangFan that turned up last Friday. After taking the photos, which I’m not entirely happy with, and starting this post I went in search of some info on the cast. I found that this version was a 2007 release, wow! That’s 8 years ago already! Anyway I also found that it’s most likely not eligible as its scale is listed as 1:61. If not granted entry here’s some pictures of the classic cat from the UK. The cast features nicely done tampos that are placed purrfectly.
Up front the headlights and blinkers are represented quite well.
At the rear the taillights are slightly off but viewed with your my eyes and not a camera it’s not noticable at all. The number plate is very well done for such a tiny piece.
I like the choice of wheels from MBX, they go well on so many casts.
At first glance the headlights look great, and they are but after looking a while longer I start to see a resemblance to some Japanese cartoon characters.
No opening features on the cast but not many casts in this scale from Mattel do these days.
I think that this is probably my favourite MBX cast at the moment, in the classic English sports coupe genre at least. The FJ40 is my other favourite but that’s in the ORAT segment. I love MBX casts and the attention to details and general accuracy. Anyway it’s getting late here and is in fact only 30 mins from becoming French Friday, time zones be strange.
