Finally!!

It’s taken months of searching but finally today I found a Custom Volkswagen Hauler! I only ever found two and both were exported to vdubyajohn. If I’m honest I wouldn’t have looked at it if not for vdubyajohn putting out a call for one. For some reason they aren’t available in the U.S.

As its a fantasy cast it puts in in a category that I don’t collect usually. This cast won me over the moment I looked inside the trailer and saw the details put in there. Then noticed the two horizontally opposed horizontally opposed VW air cooled flat fours, so it’s effectively an 8 cylinder tow rig. Yep, I needed one. I looked at every opportunity since finding the two for export, which I might add I found a separate times in quick succession, this made me think I’ll get some more with no issue. Its taken maybe 6 months but I’ve finally got one and I really really love it!

I’ve heard through the grapevine that there is at least one full scale build underway based on this cast!

I’ll be customising this after I clear the decks of current (overdue!!) projects. I have many ideas running around the cage of death that is the inside of my skull!

This came with a very rare factory error. If you study the picture above closely you’ll notice the long, straight (phew) black hair inside the blister! That’s a first for me, anyone else ever catch a stray hair in the packaging?

Only thing I’m not impressed with is the use of plastic for the upper parts of the model with only the base being diecast. At least the VW logo is metal and is a great design touch as it also doubles as a tab that locates the body. If there is ever a full metal version made I’ll be after it! I can fully understand why plastic was used. If it was fully diecast body and plastic base the cost would be higher than the already costly $12 AUD it sells for off the pegs.
