My latest find when doing a search for 1958 Thunderbird (see my profile pic) on ebay led me to something I'd never thought I'd see. It's a 'promotional model' of my exact ride. All metal body, and it's almost exactly 8 inches long. Same year and, more miraculously, even the same color scheme. The bidding still had about a week left so it was an excruciating few days. I was the only bidder for several days until the last day (of course). My bid had to be increased a bit but I wanted it more than the others for obvious reasons. Just received it in the mail this week and so here's a few pics. The turquoise top shows up a little darker than it should in this pic:
Look at that GRILLE!!!
Fins and chrome, baby...
some fit issues back here but whatever.
Underside: it has a little friction motor in there but it's not a pull-back-n-go type.
Did my best at interior shots as the doors (well, actually nothing) opens on this:
The gauge cluster is correct, inside door handles, and so is the AM radio design. Steering wheel design and horn ring matches correct as well. Mine is a black interior with white seat and door inserts, however.
Nice detail on the roof medallion, door handle, flip up keyhole cover, and the correct 5 chevron design on the door bullet. Even has the fender skirts in place in the rear wheel wells. Nice.
Correct scripts at the front fenders....
and a rear quarter view.
All in all I love it, and so glad to now have it in my possession!
