Here's a little peek at this past weekend's project I finally started.
I am taking this 'Rock n Roll' Thunderbird and turning it into my car. I've been documenting the whole thing so I can put up a major post later on when I am done.
Starting with this:
Paint stripping worked flawlessly. I used the Dupli-Color Stripper from O' Reilly's mentioned on this forum previously. Please use gloves if you're going to use it, in a well ventilated area. I just did it in my garage with the door open. No problems (didn't pass out). Let it set about 5 minutes ... paint is practically falling off.
Then, wire brushed it submerged in a bucket of water, rinsed it off ... and .... success.
I've already primed it and got one coat of white on it but that'll have to wait till later to show. Not sure if I am happy with the first coat of white so I may redo it.
Edit: If anyone has suggestions for the best paint to use for a good paint job on this small of a car, I am all ears. Currently I have a small can of white model spray paint I am trying. The first coat doesn't look as smooth as I would like but it may be just me. It's been a while since I've done something this small.
Cheers! -E.
