Had to visit the Nutmeg State on business today, so I made sure that my return route just happened to go by the Danbury TRU.
I’m still considering what to use for the radiator detail I need, so I couldn’t pass up a chance to see what they had in the diecast aisle.
My first pick was a vehicle type I usually don’t go for, an off road rally racer, the MBX Quick Sander:
It has this detail on the roof that I believe is supposed to be a radiator blowing the heat from the engine straight up, but I could be wrong, what do you think this is? I haven’t DLM’d it yet because I’m not sure if it’s a radiator.
This got me thinking about previous casts of off road trucks. Sometimes the race trucks have a big ol’ radiator mounted on the back of the roll cage, with a huge fan to blow the heat behind the truck. Can anyone remember any casting that has that detail on it?
Since I wasn’t dwelling only on the hunt for my radiator, I kept looking and came up with these:
I finally have this A-100, and it has the chrome grille...woohoo!
(Sorry mattylightning, I just had to grab it, but thanks again for offering one to me...)
I picked up two of the DC Comics Series Batman Power Wagon. I was thinking of using the tires on my Majorette Jeep Cherokee, but I haven’t convinced myself yet, so, no DLM here either.
The final pick, another Dodge Pickup Truck, the Greenlight ‘14 Ram 1500 Tradesman Crew Cab, with Guthrie OK Fire Department livery.
I think it’s pretty nice, but I kept the receipt in case I can’t do anything with it. If anyone is interested, I may put it on the facebook LaLD page for what I paid for it.
So, not a bad day, per se, but 3 out of the 4 are ones I would normally leave on the pegs. I guess I was just in a buying mood and couldn’t leave empty handed.
