Had a big surprise when I saw this on the pegs. I was actually looking forward to getting the Greenlight version of the 2018 Ford GT... because spyshots revealed that it has the proper “hole” underneath the buttresses of the car. But once again, the people at Takara Tomy did something great and released their own version of the car ahead of the Greenlight. And this one... ALSO had the proper holes under the buttresses and rear wing. And checking out how it stood... it doesn’t seem to have any ride height issues as well.
It did have the dreaded ‘big rear wheel’ syndrome... which was surprising. But the big blacked out wheels, first seen on their 2017 GTR, really suits this cast well. So the bigger rear wheels didn’t look too odd. :)
Comparing it to the Majorette version, which had proportion problems, and the Hotwheels version which didn’t have the ‘holes under the buttresses and sits too high’.... this version rocks! Its missing the side rear-view mirrors (that’s on the Majorette) and the racing stripes and headlight tampos (that’s on the HW)... but the hollowed out exhausts, holes on the rear lights, and a detailed interior (as seen from the outside) I think more than makes up for those things.
I’m still waiting for the greenlights..... it would probably have nicer wheels, sharper corners, and a lower stance? And side view mirrors maybe? And the liveries would be nicer on those as well. For now, this is awesome, and will probably tide me over till the others arrive. :D
