[Ever since shocking the world by finishing 1-2-3 at the 90th edition of the Le Mans 24 with the Adrian Newey-designed S107, Dome-Honda, in partnership with Strakka Racing and Honda Racing’s Super GT teams, has been consistently challenging bigger-budget teams like Audi, Porsche, Matra, and Ferrari in the World Endurance Championship, and even winning the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring three times. This year, Dome will run a car whose power unit is the same, but the chassis is all-new, and includes a Dyson intake, which works like a reverse Dyson bladeless fan.]

We’re on a theme break today, so no British car until next week. Instead, have a car from the little team that could and did, the Dome-Honda S109 Type-R, powered by a 2.2-liter boxer-8 engine and battery-based KERS.

I finally got around to building a LEGO car in Tiny Turbo scale, thanks in large part to Flickr user //PROTOTYP, who dropped his 2015 Le Mans cars just as I was binge-watching both Truth in 24 films and races in Sebring and Le Mans from 2009 onwards.

This is the 7th in a 16-part preview for a fictional 100th running of the endurance classic, where 48 (!!!!!!!!!) cars from 16 (!!!!!!!!!) manufacturers tackle the Circuit de La Sarthe and try to outlast each other for 24 hours.

The plan is to make all 48 cars, both individually and as a team, then pop Bluerender to get them rendered before this year’s Le Mans race. Vignettes, studio shots and on-site shots will come up by then. Oh, and did I mention that I will post instructions for all three come race day?
