[Just as the MS808 didn’t change for four straight seasons, Matra’s MS888 stayed very much the same four years after the car continued the team’s streak to 2 straight victories at Le Mans. And why not? The 2.8-liter V12 and flywheel KERS is still effective and bulletproof, and only Ferrari’s 420 P8 had better aerodynamics and packaging. Matra-10, however, has new drivers, engineers, and crew, after the old team jumped ship to Alfa Romeo.]

Look at that! We’re halfway in the grid! And we land on our last French team, Matra, which got Mahindra funding to become a formidable WEC team.

I finally got around to building a LEGO car in Tiny Turbo scale, thanks in large part to Flickr user //PROTOTYP, who dropped his 2015 Le Mans cars just as I was binge-watching both Truth in 24 films and races in Sebring and Le Mans from 2009 onwards.

This is the 8th in a 16-part preview for a fictional 100th running of the endurance classic, where 48 (!!!!!!!!!) cars from 16 (!!!!!!!!!) manufacturers tackle the Circuit de La Sarthe and try to outlast each other for 24 hours.

The plan is to make all 48 cars, both individually and as a team, then pop Bluerender to get them rendered before this year’s Le Mans race. Vignettes, studio shots and on-site shots will come up by then. Oh, and did I mention that I will post instructions for all three come race day?
