Well, since I posted my LP400 restoration the other day, I figured it’d only be fair if I featured the rest of the series here.
Well, let’s go in chronological order and start with the LP400. The mould clearly highlights the angular & wedge features of this car:

The front foglights and single wiper blade are well-represented as per the real thing:

From the rear, you can see that the periscopa feature is included. Quite nifty!

If you look closely, the mould carries two circular drill marks on the rear deck. Why’s that?

That’s because Tomica had already planned for the winged LP500S to be another car in the product line, while reusing the mould. Hey, who doesn’t like cost cutting?

Compared to the LP400, the LP500S is the same moulding, with the only differences being the wing and the base plate, which now includes an aero front bumper:

Note that the license plates moulded into the bumpers are marked LP400 and LP500S respectively:

Next comes the Quattrovalvole - Basically the above LP500S but with widened wheel arches. For that reason, this mould is typically accompanied by Tomica’s fat wheels. Note that it uses the regular LP500S baseplate, hence the plate still reads as such:

The widened arches are more apparent in this top view:

Is it accurate? Considering this used to just be a cheap toy, yes!

The growth spurt is most apparent when you put it next to the LP400:
