Hi everyone, this is my first post on LALD and I'm excited to be an author here. I just finished reading this article on Jalopnik and came up with a devious little scheme to amass a large collection of "1 of 1" 1:18 scale Vipers.
(Full disclaimer, I would not actually try this, nor do I encourage anyone else to try this unless you can actually afford a real Viper, but it is a fun idea)
Here's what I found interesting,
When a customer selects a color and stripe package, a small paint chip will be sent to the buyer for confirmation. After that, a 1-18 scale "speed form" model of the Viper painted in the chosen colors will be sent. When the owner gives the final go-ahead, the car's colors and specs will be locked in...
The plan would be to try and order a custom Viper, receive the model then decide that you don't like the color combo and try a different one. Repeat this process until you have gathered enough Vipers then troll Dodge a little and tell them that you decided on a Z06 instead.
I'm sure Dodge has a way to prevent this in the form of a deposit or a limit of some sort, but it would be pretty cool to have a large collection of "1 of 1" Vipers. As I mentioned before, I wouldn't actually try this, nor do I encourage anyone else to try it, unless you can afford a real Viper, in which case, try it for at least 2 models, and send me one for giving you the idea please :).
