Autoworld '84 Chevrolet Camaro Review

Hello LaLDiecast, this here is my review of my AutoWorld Garage, '84 Camaro 1:64 scale. Now, AW has three tiers of diecast cars, Deluxe, Premium, and Licensed Premium. This car is a Deluxe, from Release 1, set A. Deluxe is pretty much the 'basic' tier. To start off, this car looks fantastic. It's exactly what I want in a diecast car, detail.

Front view. I love the head lights and the Chevy logo on the nose, very authentic. Plus, if you look closely at the grill, you can see two distinct patterns. The smooth, middle part is where a license plate would go. Underneath the headlights, it is painted black, just like how it was done on the real car. It's little details like this that makes me happy to spend the money on cars like these!

Side View. As you can see, it has the right shape of the Camaro. I personally feel like the tires are a bit too big, like they are after market rims. But the real treasure is the silver lining on the bottom of the car. It's adds a whole new twist to the car, making it pop out and grab someone's attention! Behind the front tire, you can't see it, but I believe it says "Z28". I can't even make it out because its so small, but its there! And also, toward the rear, the gas door cover.

Rear view. The taillights on this beast look awesome. I can't tell if it's a sticker, or painted on, but either way, wow! Up close, it does look flat, but still, it helps create the illusion of the real thing. Also, notice the spoiler...

There are two disappoints I have with this car, one is the spoiler. If you look closely at the above image and the one below, you'll notice some gaps on the spoiler. The spoiler is attached by two pegs, inserted into the body....and that's it. After taking these pictures, the spoiler actually came off! Though, in AW's defense, this could be a simple, one-time mistake.

Top view. What can I say, I love the '80s Camaro's figure. And the hood isn't raised, it just has two indentations running down it, which just makes it look cool.

Bottom view. Since this guy is the basic tier, it has a plastic bottom and plastic tires. The bottom is really detailed, but about those tires.....

Ok, look closely at the tire in the bottom image. Looks like rims, right?

There, I moved it for ya. This is the second disappointment. The tire and rim are two separate pieces, with a beam in the middle of the tire and the axle is connected to the tire. Its nothing bad, it just seems...cheap. I looked at a few of my other AW cars, and they all have a different setup, the axle connects to the rim and the tire is around it. Though, this guy's tires can move independently of each other, the others can't...weird...

Of course, some glamor shots....

Would I recommend it? Hard to say. I bought this guy because I love the '80s Camaro, I think it's a thing of beauty. I don't know if the spoiler issue is consistent with all of them, because this guy did fall down 4 feet, so that could of damaged it. The tire thing is something I can stomach. If you don't mind stuff like that, then get it! It's a great mantle piece, and you can now say you own a '80s Camaro!
