Figured it out!

I figured out Maisto’s crazy steering mechanism. So I’ll obviously document it in case any one else has the same issue.

First of all, I had the U bracket in wrong, namely I had to flip it.

And this is why. The steering wheel ends in a J shape. The little end is inserted into the U bracket’s cutaway, while the longer end is in a place that keeps it still. Took me about 5 minutes of staring at it, calculating in my head what do to until it hit me.

Wait, oh dear. Did I just slightly show my custom corvette? Oh no... ;).
