Yup! Wild donkeys! So cool! But of course I was in the bike so I’m just the buzzkill who didn’t take pictures of them. They were wandering around in Nevada somewhere north of Pahrump. Unfortunately I didn’t see any wild horses though.
I really wanted to go through Sequoia but that would’ve required going through death valley, which had a forecast of 120 degrees. Fuck that shit. So I went up and over through Inyo National Forest, which was really cool and the road through it was super fun.
Plan was to head straight up to Lake Tahoe and camp there, but then I saw the signs for Yosemite. Couldn’t pass that up.
Now, my knowledge of Yosemite goes about as far as the gun-slinging, red-bearded prospector named for the place so I had zero expectations here. What was I to do? Well head right up Tioga Pass of course!
This place was absolutely beautiful. And by my estimation, the whole place is one gigantic boulder. It’s pretty cool. People running around all over the place wearing climbing gear. Signs warning of bears and people grilling burgers right next to their tents. Smart!
I ended up killing way too much time here and wasn’t able to make it back over to Tahoe for the night. And any suitable place to camp in the west side of Yosemite was packed full of people. So I ended up having to book a room in Jamestown. Neat little town and hotel, felt like stepping back in time.
Ate dinner at a restaurant across the street from the hotel and talked bullshit with the owner for a while. Cool place, cool dude, and good food.
But later that night, after getting back to my room, something wasn’t right. My stomach felt like it was wrapped around a driveshaft. Could’ve been something I ate. Not sure. But I felt so bad I couldn’t hardly stand up the whole next day. Couldn’t keep food down for most of it. Had to extend my stay and my trip an extra day.
And now we've reached the part where I go back on what I said in my last post. Turns out this isn't the last post from my trip. There's another whole day worth posting about, and you'll need to time in next time to see if I survived!
