Guess The Final Price: 2001 Cherokee XJ 4wd 59k Miles - Update! It sold for...

All the cheap and clean XJs are gone (fact). Over the last 2 years there have been more nice ones popping up than I thought survived. I’d have guessed no one took care of them as there’s plenty of well-used and abused ones for sale. This one is NICE but can we guess what it will sell for when the gavel drops?

We all knew this would happen? Or did we? I thought the XJ would surely go up in value but we’re already commonly into the low-teens for any clean, low mile examples.

This is a 2001 Jeep Cherokee 4wd Sport with a mere 59,000 miles. It appears to be in excellent condition with bright black paint and an immaculate black cloth interior. It is rare to find them this nice for sure. But what will it sell for?

There are far too many of these that have been hacked, chopped, bashed, and dicked with to count - not this one though! It’s front fascia is still intact, the bumper covers are present, all fender flairs are properly aligned, and it still has its tiny stock shoes.

The best part is all the low mile goodness in one of the most durable engines ever made. The Jeep 4.0l straight-six is an epic engine. Plenty of torque and horsepower for any on and off road excursion. This one is oh-so-clean. I want to strap on a roof top tent and bake some beans under the hood at some far off trophy trout quality lake.

Being that this one is wearing Oregon plates you might be thinking... rust? Or more realistically... moss? Neither are present to my corrected vision. It looks tasty enough to eat things off underneath (I must be hungry I’ve used this analogy before).

It doesn’t have cruise control but that isn’t needed on fire roads.

The interior is just as nice as the rest. It has all the required bits you’d ever need. It has an aftermarket stereo - I’ve had two XJs and I don’t disagree with this decision, there is something lacking from stock. Thankfully a stock unit can always be re-installed for the finicky owner.

The spare tire is indeed mounted inside and on the wall. This is the factory location. Sadly I don’t think anything bigger than stock fits here (my 31” tires didn’t fit here on mine). Removing the tire provides a moderate amount more room but do you really want to risk a tow back into town?

It’s a difficult choice between the original gauge design (pre-97) and these. So basic and easy on the eyes.

Admit it - this one is going to sell for a pretty penny. But how much? I don’t think this auction is done bidding.

I’ve consulted my crystal ball, sacrificed a lamb, and I’ve rubbed off the fur on my rabbits foot to summon the final selling number from the ethereal worlds beyond.

My guess: $15,700

What’s yours?

(Winner will receive a golf clap and a cheer of congratulations.)

UPDATE:

This auction ended with the XJ selling for...

$14,000

That’s a large mound of money for a near 18 year old Jeep. Our contributor 19JRC99 was the winner at $14,500.
