I made a thing

Well, a pair of things, really. Mrs. BaconSandwich mentioned a while back that she wanted a set of curtain hold-backs (things for holding the curtains back from the window, to allow more light in). So for Christmas, I made her some. It’s been a while since I have busted out the carving chisels, and I’m not terribly good at it, but it was still a decent experience.

The carved bits are made of basswood - not exactly the strongest wood. Because of that I made them a bit thicker. I was also worried about the kids bonking their heads on some of the sharp points, but we’ve mounted them fairly high up the wall, and the kids don’t generally play in the corners next to the living room windows, which is where they are now installed.

Now that these are done, I’m itching to get out to the garage and do something again.  Maybe I’ll make another dining room chair next.
