A roof rack for the Saab 96. Got tired of the extremely tedious work I was doing today, decided to take a break and put this thing together. It’s for a VW beetle, but will fit the Saab with a bit of precision hammering.
Put it on the 95 to check the width - the legs need to be bent outward about 1/4" to fit the drip rails. Obviously it is going to fit better on the curved roof of the 96 than it does on the flat roof of the 95.
I need to remove the slats for painting before I do the final tightening of everything together though. Also need to figure out how to mount lights on it. I’m thinking some short pieces of angle iron bolted in with those supports off the top rail might work. But also might not be stiff enough to keep the lights from vibrating. Will see.
