Initial Horizon 4 Lego Expansion Thoughts

I just downloaded and started the Lego expansion about an hour ago. Here are some things I’d like to share about it.

Although I do understand that Horizon isn’t meant to be a simulation racing game, I still feel that Lego is a stretch for them. I can’t say I’m a big fan of the idea in itself, but I have been giving it a go for about an hour.

I’m not crazy about it. An hour in and I’m not really convinced this fits Horizon. If we look at the second Horizon 3 expansion, we find that Hot Wheels is a much better fit for an open world Forza game. I’m sure this is to make it appeal to a bigger audience to boost sales and whatnot, but it honestly doesn’t feel like Forza. Sure, it’s creative and funny, but that’s about it. The Lego cars such as the initial McLaren senna, Mini Cooper S, and F40 Competizione are cutesy, but they feel very out of place. Some part of me honestly wishes they would’ve chosen something like a second hot wheels expansion, but it is what it is.

I’m going to continue playing it for a little while, but I honestly don’t feel like I’ll be playing this much more than a day or two.

Fortune Island was actually fun, which is why I’m disappointed here. I’m not sure if I should’ve had such high expectations, but either way, I’m still kinda bummed out.

Feel free to chime in if you’re also playing.
