Sooo I ordered a refurbished PC 3 wks ago and the tracking number said it delivered yesterday...TO MY MAILBOX?!?!?!

Yeah, it didn’t show up. Something else did with tracking number on it. It was unexpected. I used PayPal so I will get my money back if the company can’t fix its mistake (withholding detail info until resolved).

Anyway, I’ve been angry window shopping on another computer that needs to be replaced as well since these two are both 14 years old. Gonna stop by a local used computer place tomorrow to see if they have a cheap PC with an i5 4th gen to an i7 3rd gen for under $150. That would take care of one. The one that needs attention is the lead photo, the one that I thought I was getting replaced yesterday.

The GTX 460 GPU would cause the display to flicker for just a quick second. But when I removed it from the motherboard, uninstalled all the GTX drivers, and rebooted the PC, the motherboard would cause the display to go blank for between 5-15 seconds before coming back on. Hopefully, that clears the GTX of failing but will test it on another mobo later.

I figured I bite the bullet and get a new CPU, MOBO, & RAM. For the sake of future proofing for at least another decade+ and staying on the cheap ( under $300, just like my current units 14 years ago), this is what I’ve come up with:

All of these I can get relatively quickly (2-5 days).

While the MOBO and RAM are pretty much set, I’m leaning towards the Ryzen 5 1600 since if my current GPU needs to be replaced, I could probably get away with one for less than $60 shipped.
