Here are the results, replays, and photos from the ninth round of The Oppositelock Forza 7 Endurance Championship at Monza. In addition, the current points standings are in this post, as well as a few important notes for the next round in October.

THE RACE

If you missed the race, check out the streaming list. All of the replays can be found there. Special thanks to everyone who streamed. Only one caution led to some long term strategy battles, though spoiled a bit by the lone caution. A very clean race for the most part.

THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS

This was one of the cleanest races of the season so far, for the most part. One hour and fifteen minutes of green flag racing. The field was getting a little spread out, but each pack seemed to be having their own little battles. As per the norm with this series, the only things that got in the way were Forza/Xbox related issues. The only caution was caused by some kind of controller issue, and of course the servers couldn’t keep everyone around for the full time. But it was still a good race with a lot of action. At least until we got to the post race. Sorry about the incorrect lobby settings, my 3 years of race directing failed me when I was setting up the lobby. Also apologies for the BoP issues in the week leading up to the race, but a big thank you to everyone who helped me resolve them.

After hearing the news that Kimi was going to take his spot at Alfa Romeo Sauber in the TZ2, driver Brad Severs was a bit dishearted. Not surprised, as the car had been on its roof in the 2 prior races, but sad nonetheless. So with that in mind he went into Monza looking to have as good of a race he could, and actually ran it Incident free. After a mistake early sliding off in T1, he quickly had to adjust his strategy, and opted for early pits to try to make up time if there was a FCY. Spending most of the race by himself let him come to grips with the cars “interesting” handling and he started to get in a groove and drove up from 17th to 11th. Then that fateful yellow flag waved in the air late in the race providing the break needed for the team. After battling with his Former Teammate Corey in the 250LM and Cereal’s very fast Porsche, he was able to drive away in the waning laps to bring home a top 10 in his final race in the car. After the race Brad was happy with his result, saying “I enjoyed my time here and the car was a blast to drive, but it just wasn’t meant to be. I’m hopeful for the future.”There are rumors now for what Brad’s future will hold. Some people say they have seen him doing testing with Aston Martin, while others hear tail of a potential new American manufacturer entry. What happens now is up in the air, but expect Brad to have a new seat come time at Road Atlanta.

Statement from the #25 Valvoline Lola T70: At the 9th round of the OEC at Monza, the #25 Valvoline sponsored Lola T70 was racing under the mantra “slow and steady wins the race.” The #25 car found himself to be the benefactor of early troubles for the two leading prototype cars, and found himself leading for the majority of the race. However, after being a lap ahead, a late caution put an end to that mantra, as the Ford GT was able to recover the lost time under caution and regain the lead once the caution was over. On debut, the #25 Valvoline Lola T70 would have to settle for a respectable second place, though that result a shadow of what could have been. The team is now looking ahead to Road Atlanta, where they hope running another clean, incident free race will bring them better fortunes.

Post race Ferrari 250 Luxury. I joined Ferrari as a 4th car half way through the season last race at Sasuka. I didn’t have a great result there in Japan so I’m glad i could bring home 2nd for Ferrari at Monza. The Race was great. I ran 3rd most of the race maintaining a gap between the two leaders. I was scared to get any closer for that i thought it was going to end terribly. I am glad to say it didn’t and both the Bmw and Porsche drivers did raced professionally and gave a really good show. The restart was a tricky. The Vette came steaming by down a stretch so i was in 4th until The Porsche turned in on the Vette that was try to pass down the inside. It looked like a racing incident from where i was. All in all i got lucky to take 2nd place for Ferrari especially at home. As for your other questions yes i have seen a couple emails from other teams wanting me to drive for the next season for as close as next race. The teams?... Jaguar, Ford, Dodge and Bmw so far for whatever this ever changing race series is. We may be driving a 2CV series next year so who knows.

Next up on the calendar is the second to last endurance race, and potentially the last time this series visits the North American continent, at the famed Road Atlanta circuit. Been awhile since we’ve run here and I’m eager to go back. Still no weather options though. The voting thread for the date will be up very soon. Time options will be very limited this time. RMPC has started up and has a rigid schedule we need to work around. Plus my current wheel issues are affecting how quickly I can turn this around for the next round. Plus since this is a 2 hour race we can’t run back to back with another series. So I’m looking at mostly Saturday and Sunday options at 4:30 EDT and one Saturday night 8:00 PM slot. Either way, BoP will be done a week before the next round at the latest. Even if I have to make a new belt for my wheel out of duct tape and sadness.

Only three rounds left! We’re getting into the closing stages of the championship, so I’m expecting to see some of the points battles really flare up and generate some great action. See you at the next race!
