I thought I was going to find a wrecked TOB, and was dreading finding a wobbly pilot bearing. Turns out the clutch came apart. Two tabs holding the body of the clutch broke. The dampening springs were just rattling around with only the pressure plate keeping them in place. Springs and pressure plate were all scored up with quite a bit of glazing on the flywheel. Clutch is all Sachs branded, so it looks like I can blame this one on ze Germans. Only thing I can think of that would cause something like this is a clutch dump or a defective clutch plate.
