Monster Jam Review

Big trucks. Loud trucks. And beer.

Some of the filler events were... fun but awkward, bordering on silly. The 8 drivers raced each other on ATVs, and then later raced again in side-by-sides. I think it would have been better to have other people (or fans!) racing instead of treating the drivers like clowns, but maybe the hard-core fans want to root for their guy or gal. I enjoyed watching the skid loader drivers put the course back together after each event, but I’m probably weird that way.

I really appreciated the recovery tractor. I need one of those when off-roading.

a video of Grave Digger doing a backflip. That guy has no respect for his truck or his internal organs. “One foot on the gas, one foot in the grave” indeed. Not surprisingly he “won”, although several of the events were fan-decided, so I suspect he always has an edge. I am impressed that they put on three shows this weekend; I’d love to hang out in the pits and see what kind of mad R&R skills the crews have. Does anyone know if they have duplicate trucks, or just a trailer full of spare fiberglass body panels, suspension parts, and axles?

Overall it was a fun night, well worth the money. Definitely better than staying home and watching people yell at each other on cable news, but maybe I should try doing that with ear plugs in too....
