Dusty's Work Avoidance Tour, day 2

In case you missed the news, it finally happened.

The reason behind flying to Texas for a rally on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is that I finally bought a BRZ. A dealership in Houston had a CPO 2016 in blue with 27k on the clock, and after having Uly give it his seal of approval I made the deal. I paired the trip with the rally because that way getting the car would mean only missing one additional day off work (as much as I like avoiding work I also like money) and I can expense the gas used on the trip.

Yesterday started in Austin at Puffalump world HQ. From there I drove to see my best friend, currently at Baylor Law in Waco. Along the way I stopped at this cool vintage gas station in Jarrell.

Made another stop in Ft Worth to hang out with another co-driver at this historic Sinclair station. He just bought a Golf R, so we got to look at each others cars.

There was only one more stop for the day after that, as I needed to put down the miles. The stop was a service station called Pops on Route 66 in Arcadia, OK. Pops is famous for having over 700 varieties of proper glass bottle soda. They offer a “build your own” 6 pack, so I obliged. Faygo, woop woop!

Added bonus, I’m currently above the EPA highway fuel economy number, sitting at 31 mpg after 700 miles. Today is Vinita, OK to Kansas City to Ames, IA.
