I’ve been looking for a phone mount I like for a while for my E92, and I haven’t found anything I really like. I can’t use my phone for music in my E92, but that’s a story for another time, but I do use it for navigation. While I do have iDrive, the maps are a decade out of date. A friend with a 3D printer is working on starting a small business and one of his first products is a phone holder for an E30:

I wanted something similar for my E92, so we went to the junkyard back in June looking for some E9X parts to aid in design. Well, today we tried to fit the prototype in my 328i.

Unfortunately the ball didn’t quite fit due to some angles, but the part itself fits like a glove.

We got the USB charging ports powered off of the plug under the dash; didn’t splice any wires, used a connector from the junkyard.

Once he has a full working prototype, he’s going to try and market them and sell them. On that front, anyone have any ideas on how to market them or what you think the price point should be?
