Bought 2 totalled cars sight unseen from iaai last week. An 03 pilot ex-l with 186k miles and rear door / light suspension damage and an 03 protege ES with 367000 miles (!!!) and minor front end damage. Its a 5 speed so im saving a manual!
As these were both salvage vehicles (bill of sale no title) i found out I had to trailer them off property even though they were Both run and drive. Got a $50 Uhaul and grabbed them with the old expedition. Both fired right right up and sound good. Honda was decent inside and no obvious issues.
The protege drove 50 miles back to a friend’s house with no drama. It has a bit of blue smoke on startup and throws codes for o2 sensors but drives very well and everything works. No rust except inside the trunk where sunroof drains leaking I think. Should be fun to throw around for a bit.$500 all fees included.
The hondas rear tire was rubbing so I trailered it back. The expedition was slow but didn’t complain while hauling it. Looks like trailing arm and one of the links is bent so not too bad. $800 out the door.
Even after fixing I have to sit for state patrol inspection before getting titles and plates...which are closed due to covid.
Wish me luck !
