Front. F-ing. Row. For Nathaniel Rateliff last night. I don’t really have any other pics, because he apparently asks the venue to totally crack down on cell phone use during his shows, which I totally support by the way. I’m pretty tired of people basically live-streaming the entire show instead of, you know, enjoying it in person which is the entire point of going, inn’it?!

We were so darn close to the stage that it was actually kind of cramped. My feet were resting on a spaghetti pile of cables, and honestly, I can stretch my legs out more in a Southwest coach seat. But who cares when you’re this close?!

If I leaned forward, even sitting fully in my seat, I could put my hands on the stage. I got a setlist from the stage after, one of the crew handed a few of them out. Sorry, again, no pic. It’s at home. Here’s a terrible pic looking backwards at the venue from my seat from before the show:

Rateliff was awesome, a really talented guy (obviously) and I think this album has a lot of meaning to him, personally. I am sure he almost cried talking about the last song, dedicated to a friend who died in 2018, even though he’s done it a jillion times... or he was just putting on a show, I guess. Either way, it’s hard not to be affected by that emotional display from 10 feet away. I think it’s the best song on the album, and he did it last. So, so good.

OH YEAH and it’s some promotion, “Restaurant Week” in Boston so we went to a prix fixe 3-course meal at one of the best restaurants in the city (evidently) beforehand, it was soooo delicious.

Anyway, the show got out at 11:00 and we live almost 2 hours north of Boston. My wife had a big meeting this morning at 8:00am so I drove home while she slept. I drank very little (duh, 2 hr. drive). But I am tired. I’m going to get a coffee now.
