I’ve been using the truck to haul firewood off our new land, up a seriously steep logging road, through some mud, over a “road” that’s just the least worst part of a log yard. The truck is totally in its element, and loving it. I wouldn’t do this to it every day, but this is basically what I picture in my daydreams about owning a classic 4wd truck. This is putting what is arguably an expensive toy, to its full potential of practical use; partial justification of its big A/T tires. A small tractor wouldn’t be better for this because you’d need a trailer to haul as many logs as this can in one trip. It’s perfect, and I think if the road was 5% steeper or rougher it wouldn’t work.
I’ll try to get a video or an action shot to show you all just how steep the road really is. I’ve probably got 10-12 more loads to do.
As usual, the pictures don’t really show what it feels like when you’re really driving up this in 1st gear, 4wd low range.
