Hey all, what’s up? I’ve been off ... well, everything lately. I’ve used the internet only for weather reports, and to file unemployment. I don’t watch TV. I’m spending all my time with my kids or on my mountain bike, sometimes at the same time. Lots of time in our boat, too. The boat above was in the yard where we went for their swim lessons; time very well spent for sure (the swimming, not the boat, although Shepherds have a special place in my heart). I’m going back to work* on Monday after four weeks of furlough. *I’m actually taking vacation that week because it’s been planned since January. So I’m really going back to work on 8/3. I have no idea what that will look like, and we do not have child care.

I bounce back and forth between being thankful for our situation - my wife works and we’re not worried about money, our family is healthy and New Hampshire is really one of the best states for COVID cases right now - and being terrified about the future. No cases in any of my surrounding towns at this time. We live in a rural area and staying away from people is pretty easy here. But then, I worry about this coming winter, and how hard last spring was, with trying to work and teach my kids at the same time. I also might change jobs - because that’s a great idea, right? - in the middle of all this, but that’s kind of a long shot, so I’ll leave that alone for now.

I hope you’re all doing well. It’s been a roller coaster lemme tell ya. I hiked with my kids today and I cried at one point but also found myself smiling broadly while watching them just being themselves. Now I’m tired and I’m going to bed. I might see you all soon or not again for a while, but either way, keep it real, yo.
