One of the “joys” of home ownership is getting to replace/upgrade stuff you think is ugly. While this sounds amazing for the renter’s on Oppo it usually turns into a huge black hole of a time suck.
I’m in the midst of swapping out tile in order to update a 30 year old design. Changing from a two handle faucet to a single is a fun added side activity.
Demo went well yesterday and the better part of a thousand dollars for tile and supplies at Home Depot came home with me late yesterday afternoon. If all goes well, I won’t burn the house down nor flood the upstairs. Wish me luck sweating in the new plumbing. I’ve done it before but my joints always bear the mark of my amateur abilities. They don’t leak so that’s good enough for me.
Plumbing and backerboard is the plan for today. Maybe some tile, but we’ll see how the day goes.
Drink a beer for me. What does the rest Oppo’s weekend projects look like?
Update: phase 1 complete. One leak on the second to last joint I did. All taken care of and water tested. Will leave it open for a few days to make sure there are no small leaks then it gets closed up. Now for my reward.
