Look what was preserved under this awning

So I was sitting in traffic the other day when I saw they were working on replacing this awning on a building near my house. I noticed the old paint underneath and thought “cool” since I am a bit of a vintage junkie and love old brick painted ads.

As I started to drive away I quickly put the logo and the “RY” together and realized this must of been an old Mercury dealership. I went home and found this Edsel website that lists dealerships and indeed, this was the Krebs & King Company dealership. I couldn’t find anymore information beyond that the Krebs sold the building in 1985, but I would really like to know how long that paint has been underneath that awning.

Any Mercury fans out there know when they stopped using the God Mercury logo?
