Nearly every sports car, or sporty economy car, from a thar late 70s to early nineties either was a liftback, or had a liftback variant. I don’t know how that trend died but it needs to come back.

Let’s not forget that the Corvette carried the torch for nearly 40 years. Now with the C8 being nice gone the Liftback sports car is nearly dead.

Another less exciting modern example is the Scion TC. A car almost every one forgot, I think it’s lack of success is part of the reason that the GT86 ended up a coupe. Is you ask me the Brz86 twins would be much cooler if they open up like this.
