A sad day in racing.

This weekend at mosport is the vintage grand prix. Lots of old cars. Vintage F5000 cars were running.

The remaining F5000 races for this weekend have been cancelled. The series intends to run “Missing Man” formation laps at 1:00pm(today) in honour of Jeffrey Green.

It was a brake failure at the end of the andretti straight. Those cars have no crumple zone, and the drivers legs are even further forward on the axle than 70s F1 cars.

You can shit on how new race cars are too safe (ex: the F1 halo), but they are great in ways. Also I get why the owners of vintage race cars when they race them don’t push it to the max, some things are too priceless wreck.
