So, yeah, y'all are bad luck

Rather, stepping away from Oppo for an end-of-year break is apparently bad luck.

Monday: house burgled. First time in a few years.

Tuesday: house burgled. Again. This time by a smoker, judging by the aroma.

Wednesday: who knows?

I’m staying at a hotel tonight because the house is absolutely ransacked and I just don’t have the strength or motivation to do anything about it. And frankly I’m not sure I will tomorrow, either; I have hated the house for years, I hate the poor conditions around it, I hate the poor condition it’s in, I can’t afford to get rid of it, and I can’t afford not to.

The good news is that, in the grand scheme of things, not much has been stolen, because there’s not a lot of great value in there. A couple thousand dollars worth of random tools & Jeep parts. Some irreplaceable hard drives that contained old photographs I wanted to rescue, and will never see again.

The bad news is that, besides my confidence in staying there, I’ve also lost one of my Jeep keys, and multiple of the Tuffy keys that secure the inside of it that I just bought...and of course the people who stole them know where I live. So I can’t leave the Jeep in my driveway overnight without worrying that it’ll be stolen.

I can get the old keys wiped from its memory, but that requires the OBD-II port, which is currently broken because it’s on a circuit that’s been experiencing a short and I don’t know how to get it working again. And of course the Tuffy keys are a separate problem.

Anyway, feel free to post obligatory condolences, but I’m not going to answer questions because I just can’t bear to talk about it more than I already have.

(Yes, I should be able to get wifi working again, yes, I should be able to get some security on the house, no, I have no idea how long either of those will take because reasons, and no, I have no idea how many more times my life will be violated until then.)
