I was writing a depressing post about how Christmas probably isn’t happening this year, but decided I’d rather contemplate how best to spend money on a second vehicle.
Despite the fact that I have enough trouble with just one.
(Also, wish me luck: going for COVID testing early tomorrow morning, because I’ve felt a little off the last few days.)
First, my Craigslist search for manual RWD Toyotas popped up something interesting: a ‘99 RAV4 for only $2200. Anyone know what the 4wd is like on these? Is there a 4L?
It’s far enough away I doubt I’ll make the trip to check it out, but the price is obviously appealing.

Next, another NB Miata has piqued my interest: this one much closer to home than the last NB I contemplated, and an unusual yellow(!), and of course a manual(!!), and the seller is interested in trading for a Jeep(!!!).
Not that I’d seriously consider trading my Jeep for the Miata. Probably.
But it is close enough I should go take it for a test drive.

This flatfender has been lurking on CL for a while now; the longer it fails to sell, both the more convinced I am it’s a piece of crap but more tempted I am to make a trip to look at it. $3500, a relative bargain for these.

And waittaminute, a local S2000 for under $10k, not a salvage title? The astonishingly awkward photography makes me nervous, but damn, this is interesting.
This salvage title S2000 appears to still be available, and is still reallllllly tempting.

And last but definitely not least, there are no shortage of XJs available on FB right now. Because life is just shitty that way, none of them are manuals, but at least they’re all 4wd.
