After a GrubHub snafu sent me 20 minutes out of my way to pick up Chinese food: the 250 is getting a new turbo pedestal, EBPV delete and wastegate.

Story time. GrubHub, pickup order (I’m sorry but when my $20 order magically becomes $40 for delivery I’m going for a drive (besides I enjoy driving)). Well, GH managed to not select the ShunXing that’s 1.5 miles from my house and instead sent me to one 20 minutes away. And because they have no order buffer time the cancelation period was non existent.

Upon arrival at the wrong ShunXing, which was amusing because the counter was totally blocked off, plexiglass window, and had a drop box sort of pass through where your order was placed and then you opened a door to retrieve - honestly this trend can stay once we’re beyond the Modelovirus Coronavirus. Getting out to the parking lot there was the regular condensation puddle from my AC but also a drink coaster size black puddle. Uh oh. Checked the oil, it’s fine, the 7.3 takes like 42 quarts so there’s plenty left. Getting home doing some more inspecting the drip was maybe 1 drip every 3 seconds where the truck usually drips 1 drop per 20 seconds after stopping but eventually stops. Position wise this is the notorious EBPV - exhaust back pressure valve(?). Anyways it bypasses the turbo when it’s cold to heat up the engine. WHY IS IT OIL DRIVEN?

Guess what? They leak. Because they’re oil driven. Know what doesn’t leak? Electricity. (dont @ me it’s an analogy).

Also found a new wastegate because the factory Ford one apparently leaks at 5psi, I’ll have the turbo out anyways so might as well.

Hopefully the turbo looks good and I won't be doing a rebuild but we'll see.
