From today’s Craigslist trolling for a Mk3 I can pull parts off of, we have the following gems:

A 1991 Mk2 GTI

A 92 Corrado

A definitely not legal 1998 Mexican Beetle

I’d track the bug, daily the Corrado, burn the GTI (sorry).
