CoronaCompetition: Craigslist Edition

So those stimulus checks are starting to roll in. Let’s say hypothetically you wanted to buy a car. You crack open a fresh Firefox tab and go to double you double you double you dot craigs list dot oh-are-gee, click “cars & trucks” and set a price cap of $1200. What’s the coolest thing you can find?

For me, also adding the required manual transmission and setting a minimum price of $101 to weed out the dealerships, I’ve found a lovely 1987 Nissan Maxima about and hour and a half away with a VG30E V6! And it doesn’t even look too bad!

The seller notes that it is in need of some help, and the price reflects this:

1987 Nissan Maxima 5 speed. Neat car, just don’t have time to mess with it anymore needs some basic maintenance like pads, ball joints, wheel bearings, and needs the muffler welded on. Changed out the shocks, tires are in decent shape. Would be a great first car for someone with little work or.

Note that the plate is an Indiana one. This might represent an issue, as I live in Ohio, where out of state cars must be VIN checked at the BMV prior to titling. And I wouldn’t be able to plate it anyways, on account of the ‘Rona closing all the BMVs and restricting title bureau hours. The seller continues:

The interior and exterior are in excellent shape for the year and mileage. I do have paint for the faded hood, and lexan to replace the broken sunroof to turn it into a moon roof. If I get the asking price of $750, I can do the moonroof conversion for you or replace the sunroof if you can locate the parts.

Taking offers, motivated seller, need to move it quickly as it’s taking up street parking and upsetting the neighbors (and girlfriend who can’t currently park in front of the house).

Please text instead of calling; I work in an office and can’t answer.

Seat bolsters and door cards appear to be in good repair, though the ad lacks in photos.

So, Oppo, what screaming deals can your allotment of taxpayer dollars scrounge up? A Miata? Perhaps a rusted out pickup? A minivan with no seats?

If anyone already made a post like this, oops. I didn’t see it. If you REALLY want this Maxima, the ad can be found here. Happy hunting!
