Pretty much the entire trail looked like this at best. The majority of the ride you wouldnt be able to see more than the plants in the foreground. For reference, here is the same valley (from higher up) on a clear day:
Anyways, the marine layer was great though since this was not an easy ride in the park. I took full advantage of the cooler weather and went for a 17 mile ride with nearly 3000 feet of elevation change.
At the very top of the final hill, the sun finally poked out for just a bit and was lovely for my snack break.
It was like being on an island above the clouds! Not too dissimilar to my backpacking trip to Big Sur a couple years ago. The whole ride back was mostly downhill with just a couple of difficult/loose climbs to remind me that it wasnt that kind of easy up one way and down the other. The new tire worked great and felt rather confidence inspiring. Now I have even more reason to replace the rear tire since dorifto action is fun but was far more pronounced since the front never lost grip.
