My 17 year old VW has finally used up its second battery... that’s right just two batteries in 17 years.
The good thing about this is the fact that I’ve only had to jam a battery in there just the once...and it wasn’t fun last time.
Another positive is that it’s not the air filter.
Update: Of course it fitted and of course there was swearing involved.
Had a moment when I realised the earth terminal was filthy and perhaps I'd wasted my money but the old battery measured just 10.8 volts...so it is toast.
