This is something I’ve been putting off. The rear hatch on the Forester hasn’t been able to lock remotely for ‘a while’. Turns out that 20 years of outback NSW bull dust will do that - the mech was too clogged for the solenoid to push completely.
The most hair raising part is removing a large section of 20 year old Japanese plastic without breaking anything. Not even a clip. I was successful perhaps due to the learned tenderness required of 20 year old German plastic...

A blast out with some compressed air and liberal application of graphite powder means we are good for another 20 years!!
